Parking Authority deserves understanding, not name-calling

Recently the Butler Parking Authority voted to sign an option agreement with the Redevelopment Authority for two of its downtown lots; Cunningham and McKean and Jefferson Street. The property would ostensibly be part of the Center City Project which the Redevelopment Authority is proposing. The development might consist of a downtown hotel, housing, retail space, and a convention/meeting facility.
So what’s the big deal? Sounds like a terrific, progressive idea to help revitalize and energize our city…right?
The problem is all of the political posturing, name calling, and finger pointing that went into the process, not to mention that there is yet no developer or detailed plan to build of this wonderful stuff…but hey, we don’t want to hold back progress now do we?
